Pete Davidson has a lot going on at the moment. The Saturday Night Live comedian is now dating Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress Margaret Qualley after notorious flings with Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale. This comes after a major meltdown on stage.
He was recently performing for students of the University of Central Florida, but things quickly went downhill when he went on a huge rant about the use of cellphones during his performance.
Davidson, who had warned everyone to stay off their phones, went on a tirade calling students “f***ing retarded,” and telling them that they are the reason that the world is going to end in 25 years.
He added that he felt like he was delivering a performance to children because they could not behave, and told them that they should grow up.
According to Page Six, he said: “That’s what’s f–ked up. You were the one filming. That’s right, we’re embarrassing. That’s why the world is going to end in 25 years because you’re all f–king retarded.”
He continued with: “I meant it that way, idiots. You should f–king grow up. It says no phones. … You’re just supposed to just like behave. I have to have my boy patrol you guys like you’re 5 years old? That’s f–king embarrassing.”
He concluded by: “You should grow up,” he continued in the middle of his set. “Where’s the next generation? … Don’t you want your parents to be proud of you? … Now we’ll continue.”
However, Davidson seemed to eventually realize that he was going too far, and tried to switch the tone of his rant into a motivational speech.
That did not seem to impress anyone though, as the incident immediately went viral, with many sharing videos of Davidson’s tirade and accusing him of acting way out of line.
Many have expressed their criticism of Davidson as a result of the rant, claiming that while he had a point, he blew things way out of proportion.
The comedian has not responded to inquiries yet, and his representative has been quiet as well.
Many students have turned the situation into a joke, pointing out that despite the failure of the main performance itself, the audience still got its entertainment one way or another.
Unfortunately for Davidson, it could cost him quite the heavy hit to his career, but it remains to be seen if that is the case, because it could also easily blow over soon.
Some believe that the reason behind the rant might be the fact that he might have been testing jokes for a Netflix special.
imagine going on a 5 minute drug-fueled rant about how you hate millennials recording shit and then tryna backtrack into making it a motivational speech ? we ain’t even pay to see this shit;;;; reLAX!
