It has been over a week since Kate Middleton shocked the world with the news that she was hospitalized in London. Prince William‘s wife underwent abdominal surgery and is said to be doing well.
She will remain in the hospital for seven or ten more days. Middleton will return to her royal duties in April or May, depending on what the doctors have decided.
There have been several updates from Kensington Place explaining that Kate Middleton is doing well and will start working from home once she is released from the hospital.
However, some abnormalities have also surfaced via reliable media outlets and Palace aides. For example, the statement from the Palace revealed that Middleton went to the hospital for a scheduled operation.
Yet, multiple staff members, who work closely with Kate Middleton, have confided that they were all shocked by the news, and no employees were informed beforehand of the hospitalization.
An aide told PEOPLE Magazine: “Within their broader circle of family friends, there had been no indication that anything was wrong, and the carefully guarded news about Kate’s situation came as a surprise even to those who work closely with the royal family.”
The media outlet went on to say: “Spending the holiday season at their country home, Anmer Hall, the couple and their children enjoyed family time with their royal relatives while catching up with friends for outings in the Norfolk countryside. Around the New Year, they spent time with Kate’s family, and as they resumed daily life at Windsor’s Adelaide Cottage, they celebrated Kate’s 42nd birthday on Jan. 9 privately. The following day, George, Charlotte, and Louis returned to their school, Lambrook. However, as William resumed public duties on Jan. 11, it became evident that some expected public engagements for Princess Kate were unconfirmed, and behind the scenes, there were schedule changes and growing concern.”
Many were baffled by the fact that seven days after Kate Middleton was admitted to the hospital, none of her children went to the hospital to visit her.
While Prince William is often at his wife’s bedside, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, have yet to see their mother as she faces this scary situation.
HELLO!’s royal editor Emily Nash said via The Mirror: “Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working overseas, so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough. She loves having her family around her, so she will be looking forward to getting home and having cuddles with the kids. Both William and Kate are very hands-on parents; they take the kids to school, attend sports matches and concerts, and try to be home for bedtime as much as they can. While Kate is in the hospital, William will be at home, keeping things as normal as possible.”
Wild reports have also surfaced from some news publications claiming that Middleton was overstressed by the dramas and accusations and suffered a mental breakdown — that rumor has been denied.
