Meghan Markle recently told the world she is not an influencer or a reality star.
The Duchess has made it clear to the world that she is a royal, a Sussex, to be precise. Her determination to assert her royal status is evident in her every action.
Despite her royal status, Meghan has not shied away from opportunities to behave like a starlet. Her actions often seem to be driven by a desire for attention, a trait that the royals typically frown upon.
The former actress finds a way to shine the spotlight on her, something the royals frown upon. Kate Middleton, in particular, has tried in vain to lead Markle to the pasture of privacy, class, silent power, and the will to be a humble servant.
If the former actress had accepted Middleton’s road map, she certainly would have avoided her latest self-inflicted scandal.
This week, Markle surprised many by appearing on the cover of PEOPLE magazine. Prince Harry‘s wife, wearing a casual and classy outfit and a large sunhat, appeared on the front page.
She also participated in an extensive interview in which she spoke about her life in California, her family, and her projects.
Markle shared a fascinating story about what goes on in her yoga classes. She confessed: “I have a couple of girlfriends up here — these are stay-at-home moms and working women with normal jobs, not in the public eye. We went from just connecting through our kids to having girls’ nights out or doing Pilates together.”
The Duchess of Sussex went on to reveal: “I go to group classes that sometimes have 40 to 50 people in them and just walk in like, ‘Hi!’ Of course, at the beginning, that felt like a lot. By the way, I think anybody walking into a yoga class with 50 people when you’re one of the last people that walk in, and everyone looks up, will feel a little uncomfortable!”
She continued: “The other day in class, I was there by myself — sometimes I go with girlfriends, but I went by myself — and in the middle of the class, they said, ‘Great, tell the person on your mat next to you that they’re doing a great job, give them a fist pump.’ And I looked over, and there was someone over there, and I was like [miming a fist bump], ‘Well done!’ Then I looked to the other side, and there was someone else, and I went, ‘Nicely done! Come on, guys!’ ” “I mean, that’s part of how you connect. I love it. It’s the best,” she says. “I had missed it. It’s awesome.”
Markle was crucified for several reasons, including the fact that the photo itself was heavily photoshopped. She was also slammed for not highlighting worthy causes and instead having a Meghan-centered interview.
The Netflix star was reminded by her critics that in a world where Kate Middleton just slapped down a cover for Vogue, why is she on the cover of PEOPLE talking about light topics?
