Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s new life away from the British Royal Family is not exactly what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have expected as the two of them are currently dealing with some unexpected issues.
Apparently, even though Harry and Meghan moved to the United States to be independent of the limitations of being working royals, the two were unpleasantly surprised that they still had to answer to others for some matters.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently settled in Los Angeles and tried to give their contribution to the local society by volunteering for one of the local community groups, Homeboys and Homegirls.
However, according to the Royal Rota podcast hosts, Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson, since the royal couple was prohibited from using the “Sussex Royal” name on social media, they were left without their own social media channels.
According to Robinson, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to “rely on organizations like Homeboy to put the photographs up and alert us to the work they’re actually doing,” which gave them lesser media control than they had initially expected.
Harry and Meghan recently made headlines when it was announced that they had struck a deal with the Harry Walker Agency as an attempt to earn money from public speaking and become “financially independent.”
The agency is famous for its associations with names like the Obamas, the Clintons, and Serena Williams. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have insisted that even if they do public speaking, they would not talk about their lives as royals.
Moreover, Harry is not really feeling at home in California. He now feels the same way Meghan felt when she was living in the UK. While he does not dislike L.A., he feels “lost” in this new environment.
Royal author Tom Quinn told the Daily Star: “Harry does feel slightly lost because he is now experiencing in America what Meghan was experiencing here. It’s always been a problem, early on in the relationship, Meghan is a dynamo, she’s full of positive energy that would sweep Harry along, but once the honeymoon is over, you still have to fill the days.”
Some fans of the royal family are blaming Meghan for having too much influence over her husband. They say he might be regretting following her to America.
Moreover, for those critics, Meghan never had plans to live in Europe, and the marriage in the UK was just a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
