Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is getting a ton of love after rapper Twista, whose real name is Carl Terrell Mitchell, took to social media, and he compared her to model Bernice Burgos.
For some unknown reason, the Chicago MC, known for rhyming very rapidly, jumped on Instagram where he shared side-by-side pictures of the Empire actress and the famous influencer.
Burgos captivated fans a few years ago after it was revealed that she was T.I.‘s side chick and had a few exchanges with his wife, Tiny Harris.
The rapper decided that Sidibe would be option A with the following features — “make $30 an hour,” “own house,” “own Car,” and “no kids.”
As for Burgos, she came as B with “no Job,” “staying couch two couch,” “no car,” “12k followers on ig,” and “3 kids three bds.”
Twista went on to ask his followers, “who y’all choosing A or B,” via the caption. The controversial post landed Twista in a load of trouble, with many calling him a bully who is body-shaming black women.
Others said the post was rude and disrespectful because the Precious star announced a few weeks ago that she had gotten engaged to boyfriend Brandon Frankel.
Sidibe, who is busy living her best life with her fiancé and her hilarious cat, took a little time to slam Twista.
She wrote this: “Wow. I um…. gee, @twistagmg I only like you as a rapper I forgot about in 2005. But good luck with option B!”
A critic bashed the artist by saying: “I just want to know… Who chose YOU?? The nerve of this full grown boy to come out and talk about anybody. You can MAYBE pull a woman because of the loose change you made two decades ago. That’s it. That’s all.”
The “Overnight Celebrity” artist was slammed by this social media user: “Glad you took it down. As you can see. We, the people, love Gabby! She is beautiful and has ALREADY BEEN CHOSEN TO BE A WIFE!!!!!!!…..without your post?????.”
A backer of Sidibe stepped in to share these words: “Black men like you wake up and chose to hate on black women for what? Why can’t you just support your community? The self-hatred is showing.”
“Feminine But why do you automatically assume that Gaborie’s man only wants her for what she can do for him and not because he actually loves her? Y’all are showing how y’all really feel about fat and/or Darkskin black women in these comments, and it’s disgusting. For your information, her fiancé is rich too,” an interesting comment read.
“Way too old to be making comparison memes about Black women. Let’s put you side by side with someone,” this Twista critic pointed out.
A few years ago, Sidibe opted to undergo weight-loss surgery after going to therapy and battling depression, anxiety, and bulimia.
She explained her decision in her memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare. She also sat down with PEOPLE and confessed: “I just didn’t want to worry. I truly didn’t want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes.”
She added: “The surgery wasn’t the easy way out. I wasn’t cheating by getting it done. I wouldn’t have been able to lose as much as I’ve lost without it. It has taken me years to realize that what I was born with is all beautifull. I did not get this surgery to be beautiful. I did it so I can walk around comfortably in heels. I want to do a cartwheel. I want not to be in pain every time I walk up a flight of stairs.”
Sidibe has a great sense of humor and handled Twista pretty well, according to observers. The “So Sexy” artist has apologized and deleted the offending post.
