Using his own media platform and interviews, former President Donald Trump has had nothing but praises for Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen of England died on September 8 at the age of 96. The Monarch was on vacation in her beloved Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
The state funeral for the Queen will take place on September 19 at Westminster Abbey, and many world leaders will be present.
It is believed that Presidents Emmanuel Macron of France and Isaac Herzog of Israel, and Emperor Naruhito of Japan will attend the somber event.
The church has 2,200 capacity, implying that King Charles III and Buckingham Palace have been forced to make tough decisions about who to invite.
According to officials and documents obtained by Politico and The Times of London, only the heads of state and their spouses or partners from each country will receive invitations to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
The documents circulating also revealed that King Charles would host the world leaders at a reception in Buckingham Palace the night before the funeral.
The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) defended its rigid protocols for the funeral by saying: “The department regrets that, because of limited space at the state funeral service and associated events, no other members of the principal guest’s family, staff, or entourage may be admitted.”
Aware that the strict protocol rules for foreign dignitaries mean he will not be invited to the funeral, Donald Trump has found a way to let President Joe Biden and King Charles know he is frustrated.
The former President has also made it clear that the rules should be changed so he could be part of one of the biggest international events of the century that will include more than one hundred kings and queens.
One of Donald Trump’s senior advisers told The Daily Beast: “Biden should include Trump, the way Obama [was] included with Mandela. No brainer. He had a deep respect, admiration, and fascination with the Queen.”
King Charles’s rules will also apply to former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and George W. Bush will not be able to attend the funeral.
It is worth noting that King Charles could issue personal invitations to anyone he desired. According to the documents, world leaders will not be permitted to use their own state cars or helicopters.
They will be riding buses to the church service. Some exceptions have been made for President Biden, who has been authorized to travel in his armored Beast to the Queen’s funeral.
Upon discovering the Queen’s death, Trump took to his Truth Social media platform to mourn and pay homage.
He wrote in part: “Melania and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II…May God bless the Queen, may she reign forever in our hearts.”
Talking to The Daily Mail, Donald Trump said the following about Her Majesty: “We then go up, and we have tea. And I didn’t know this – it was supposed to last 15 minutes, but it lasted like an hour. Because we got along, and she liked our first lady, and our first lady liked her. But we got along fantastically well. But the time went by – you know, sometimes you get along, and the time goes by.”
Donald Trump met Elizabeth II in 2018 and 2019.
