The news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s latest big move has led to a rather uncomfortable joke that involved the world’s richest man, Elon Musk.
Reliable sources who spoke to Page Six and The Sun recently disclosed that Prince Harry and Markle are set to leave their $14.65 million home in Montecito, California.
Even though the stunning Tuscan villa sits on a 7.5-acre lot and features seven bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, Prince Harry and Markle feel like they have outgrown it and are eyeing greener pastures.
And it seems that the renegade royals have their hearts set on a new abode in Santa Barbara’s Hope Ranch community, where most dwellings fetch up to $22 million.
The report suggests that Prince Harry and Markle may have already purchased a mansion in the pricey and exclusive enclave.
While sharing her thoughts on Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to move out of their Montecito estate, famous royal expert and author Tina Brown made a surprising joke that involved business mogul Elon Musk.
As she was talking at the Henley Literary Festival, the royal journalist reminded Markle via a crude remark that “Musk is single if she fancies trading up,” according to The Telegraph.
The royal biographer said: “Yes, and at some point, it might be more than a new house she’s looking for. Elon Musk is still single; that’s all I have to say.”
Moving on from her uncomfortable zinger, the author of The Diana Chronicles and The Palace Papers went on to say: “It’s not very pleasant to be a D-list celebrity who, for them, doesn’t have enough money. It’s a wholly different game to be with those super-rich people. In Montecito, where they live, their $14 million mansion is a humble cottage compared to what these other people have.”
The former editor of Vanity Fair, and the New Yorker, who is well connected to the British royal family, revealed that Prince Harry is stuck between a rock and a hard place with his upcoming memoir.
The royal couple has a massive mortgage to pay and needs to publish the book but does not want to frustrate King Charles III and Prince William with their revelations.
She shared: “They are now in this bind, where they’ve taken all this money, and Harry has made this book deal where he’s supposed to spill everything about his horrible life as a royal, but now he’s actually tortured about it because he understands there is no way back if he does it. If the book continues, I don’t think there is any way for Harry to return. So my view has always been that the book won’t see the light of day. The window is beginning to close, but I always thought at some point a deal would be made, and Charles would have to pay back the advance to stop Harry writing this book.”
Brown claimed Prince Harry’s late mother would have pushed him to return to London.
She stated: “Diana was very pragmatic. I think she would have said to Harry, ‘This isn’t going anywhere. You need to make a deal and find a way to come back.'”
Things are complicated for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
