Prince Harry is selling millions of his tell-all memoir Spare, in which he leaves no stone unturned. His father, King Charles III, did not face most of the criticism as expected.
The same cannot be said for his brother, Prince William, sister-in-law Kate Middleton, and stepmother Camilla, Queen Consort. The three royals are all dealing with an unpleasant January because of the revelations contained in the book.
Their reputations have been tarnished. However, they can find some solace in the fact that The Duke of Sussex is also hurting his brand in the process.
After the release of the book, the renegade royal and his wife, Meghan Markle, saw their popularity plummet in the United States.
According to a recent poll, there is a real drop in their approval ratings with Americans. Their numbers are now seriously underwater nationwide. Moreover, most people say it was the wrong thing to do by selling the secrets of the Royal Family to the highest bidder.
It may take a while before the rebellious pair can regain their footing. King Charles is thinking deeply about taking some steps against the duo. This is something that supporters of the British royal family have been pushing for.
It seems that The Monarch has reached the conclusion that the attacks went too far and cannot be left unanswered. Despite the happy talks about reconciliation, the Royal Family is said to be working on a plan to go after the father of two after all the damage he has done.
To get there, aides tell the Sovereign to take a page from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II‘s playbook. The late Monarch punished Prince Harry by removing his military titles after “Megxit.”
American journalist Christopher Andersen says Queen Elizabeth was more decisive with her different moves.
The royal expert told Us Weekly: “Nothing could rattle the Queen, apparently. Keep calm and carry on. She would’ve probably taken some action just as she did with Diana. [Queen Elizabeth] certainly is the person who began all of this the minute she would not allow a part-time royal situation. She could have; she could have made all the accommodations for the Sussexes that they wanted. She chose not to do that because you’re either all the way in or you’re out.”
He continued: “She had, apparently, no qualms about taking away his military ranks, his ceremonial ranks, which was really a devastating blow to him. So I think maybe Charles will channel her in terms of this kind of strength and, at some point, do something decisive so he can put it behind him. If he can do that before May, I don’t know. But he’ll probably have to do it at some point.”
Prince Harry has said that he has enough content for a second book. King Charles is probably taking this threat seriously as he weighs his next move.
His son could use any sanction against him and his wife as more reason to continue dropping bombshells in print. The Monarch is walking on a tightrope as he tries to balance the need for toughness and the fear that Prince Harry could hurt the Royal Family by cutting deeper.
Some royal observers go as far as saying that Prince William is showing more determination in the fight against Prince Harry, and he should take the lead in the response to the Spare fallout.
I’m british xserviceman and 73 years old I was in more than one conflict and hands on unlike harry who was I believe a couple pilot of a helicopter we were taught never to talk about “kill” scores it’s just not as they say now (not cool). I do think that the pair of them should lose their titles and be just plain Mr and Mrs and then see how much money that they can make without the name of a family that they seem to hate so much behind them to me harry is a complete disgrace to the country and the longer the king let’s it carry on the more people will start to think that we have a very weak king and think that William would do a better job and stop harry being a disgrace to his country and most of all to himself
