If the rumors have any legs, King Charles III, for a long list of reasons, would prefer to have Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, at his coronation ceremony.
The King sent out official invitations to the couple several weeks ago. After King Charles snubbed Prince Harry during his London trip, he declined to RSVP.
Therefore, His Majesty and his aides are in the dark about Prince Harry and Markle’s decision about the mega event.
After the Montecito couple ignored this week’s deadline to RSVP, multiple British and American media outlets contacted them, hoping to get an answer about their plans for the coronation.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, finally gave an update by telling BBC: “The California-based couple said this week there was no update on whether they were attending.”
The ambiguous update must have disappointed and irked King Charles, who has made it clear that he wants all members of the British royal family at the crowning ceremony.
A friend of King Charles confirmed to The Daily Beast that he “very much” wants Prince Harry and his grandchildren to attend his upcoming coronation and that he will “do the right thing” and seat them and Harry “prominently.”
The close friend of the Sovereign explained: “Nothing that happens between now and then will make any difference to the seating plan. Charles has always said that he loves both his sons. He wants them both there. Harry and Meghan are invited and will be seated prominently.”
Another associate of King Charles shared the heartfelt reason he wants to have Prince Harry at the event despite all the pain and damage that he caused the royals with his interviews and bestselling book.
The person in the know shared the following: “But if Charles does put Harry and Meghan in the front row, he won’t be doing it only for PR reasons. Another friend, who said they believed seating arrangements had not as yet been finalized, told The Daily Beast: “Charles has a strong sense of tradition, and tradition dictates that Harry ought to be in the front row. I am sure he will do the right thing. Despite everything that has happened, he is his son.”
Royal observers believe that Prince Harry and Markle will ultimately decline the invitations because they fear the royals giving them cold shoulders and getting booed by the British people.
