Meghan Markle is a complex figure for the Royal Family and the media, for they all appear to be baffled and somewhat frustrated by the dramatic evolution of her attitude towards them.
It was claimed that Markle married Prince Harry because she dreamed of being a high-profile member of the Royal Family. However, the Californian flipped the script by fleeing Buckingham Palace as fast as she possibly could.
And she has confirmed, time and time again, that she has no plans to ever return to London. After stepping down from her royal duties, it was predicted that she would spend the rest of her life bashing King Charles III, Prince William, and, of course, her sister-in-law turned enemy, Kate Middleton.
She has proved them wrong again. One year ago, Markle did a lengthy interview with The Cut and, more or less, took a vow of silence about all things and people royal.
She surprised the masses by keeping her word — Markle has stopped talking about the Royal Family. It seems that Kate Middleton and Prince William have yet to notice it, but Markle’s biggest weapon against them is to be completely indifferent.
In the past months, there have been countless stories about the heir and his wife’s feelings about Markle. Their close friends and top staff members have repeated the talking points about them being upset, and feeling insulted by Markle’s actions and accusations.
Leaked stories from England claimed that Middleton took on the role of peacemaker once held by the late Prince Philip and did her best to resolve the damaged situation between the brothers, while Markle stood on the sidelines.
There have also been a ton of reports stating that Middleton and Prince William will never forgive Markle. Or they might accept Prince Harry into the royal fold, but they will remain on the “never-Markle train.”
The endless stream of stories about Markle garnered one reaction from her: indifference. One source close to the former actress spoke to PEOPLE, confirming that Markle has indeed become the Duchess of obliviousness to the royal drama.
The insider shared: “The situation with [King Charles III] and [Prince William] is still very difficult for [Harry]. Meghan is always supportive of it though. She used to be negative about it. It seems she has kind of moved on now.”
Markle has clearly moved on, and maybe it is time for the Prince and Princess of Wales to do the same.
