King Charles III is a 75-year-old man who waited all his life to become monarch. He had plans to rule like his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, with a firm and steady hand and not rattle the multi-century-old institution.
Instead, he has been hit by multiple scandals via Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, King Charles is now being rattled by the heir to the throne, Prince William.
In a recent interview with a pool of reporters, Prince William surprised many by rocking the boat under his father.
Prince William said that he would not be doing things like his family, instead, he would focus on “social leadership” and “going a step further” than traditional royal work by “showing my intent more.”
He told the British print media that he would go further than his father and grandmother. Prince William boldly declared: “The thing that ties it all together for me is about social leadership. That’s what I’m trying to find my way in. I care about so many things and previously the family have been very much spotlighting brilliantly and going around and highlighting lots. I want to go a step further. I want to actually bring change and bring people to the table who can do the change if I can’t do it. It’s all about progressing, helping, and advancing particular social causes that need to be given more support.”
He went on to say that King Charles and other past royals went about the business of the monarchy the wrong way.
He explained: “You have to remain focused, if you spread yourself too thin you just can’t manage it and you won’t deliver the impact or the change that you want to happen. I’ve been in the homelessness sector for a long time and so rather than just being a patron I want to do more, I want to actually build the homes, I want to provide them with mental support, all the employment, and the education they might need…”
He added: “It’s all these wraparound services, it’s kind of going deeper and longer than it is the case of just having loads of causes that you sort of turn up and keep an eye on. It’s more about how do I show my intent more. How do we do more for you and give you a better future?”
The comments alarmed King Charles and the more than thousands of patronages, charities, and causes that the Royal Family pushed.
The Daily Beast noted: “William’s remarks will likely send a shiver down the spine of British charities that have long depended on a royal patron to generate interest and funds.”
One charity activist told The Daily Beast: “These comments will be very concerning to a lot of charities that have relied on their royal patrons for generations. It is almost impossible to raise any serious amount of money in Britain without a royal patron.”
The British monarchy is going through some epic changes.
William is trying to take the royal family into the next century it has spent too much time in the past and we should let that go with the late queen. The late queen done a wonderful job but the world has changed and the royal family have to change with it the same as most of the continental royal family’s are doing
