In the bomshell biography, Spare, Prince Harry wrote about a lovely night that descended into chaos because of his inappropriate behavior.
Prince Harry explained that they enjoyed a romantic dinner of roasted chicken and fancy wine and listened to James Taylor and Nina Simone.
They were also enjoying a lovely conversation when Prince Harry said he snapped at Markle. He explained what happened next: “Maybe the wine went to my head. Maybe the weeks of battling the press had worn me down. For some reason, when the conversation took an unexpected turn, I became touchy. Then angry. Disproportionately, sloppily angry.”
He wrote that it was his fault that he sisterhood the point Markle was making and verbally hit her with harsh comments. The former soldier stated: “Meg said something I took the wrong way. It was partly a cultural difference and a language barrier, but I was also over-sensitive that night. I thought: Why’s she having a go at me? I snapped at her, spoke to her harshly, cruelly.”
Prince Harry left the room and went for a walk, and when he returned, Markle told him: “[I] would never stand for being spoken to like that.”
She went on to ask him if he had been exposed to that kind of inappropriate behavior from his male relatives, and he said yes.
Prince Harry shared: “Where did you ever hear a man speak like that to a woman? Did you overhear adults speak that way when you were growing up?’ I cleared my throat and looked away. Yes.”
Markle told Prince Harry that is not the man she wanted to marry and have children with. He wrote: “She wouldn’t tolerate that kind of partner, co-parent, or life. She wouldn’t raise children in an atmosphere of anger or disrespect.”
Prince Harry said that Markle pushed him to get help to deal with his anger issues. He confessed: “It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated, and it was obvious that I could use some help with the job.”
Markle is trying to build ventures outside of the Royal Family drama.
