On the heels of the first anniversary of “Megxit,” more and more details about what really took place between Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth at the now infamous Sandringham Summit are getting leaked.
According to former royal butler Paul Burrell, Harry wanted to have things both ways, and the Queen would not allow it.
The prince wanted his heart and his conscience to be happy and at peace. According to the former royal staff member, Harry wanted to leave and be with the woman he loves — Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex — and be able to keep some of his dearest titles still.
Meghan Markle‘s husband begged his grandmother to find a compromise, and she was ruthless in her response.
During an appearance on Vicky Pattison‘s podcast, The Secret To, Mr. Burrell made this revelation: “She would have done everything she possibly could do to say to Harry, stay with the working family because you are part of it and the country loves you. But he wanted something else, and he went with his heart, not his head, and he went with the woman he loves.”
The former employee of the British monarchy said he fully understands Harry and Meghan’s decision to exit the royal family, but he is still backing the Queen.
He stated: “You cannot blame him for that. The Queen gave Harry a choice at Sandringham. Harry said, ‘granny, can I keep my uniforms and contacts with the army?” And she said you couldn’t have one foot in the camp and one foot out.”
He added: “Look how wise she was; I think she did the right thing.”
According to Battle of Brothers, the interaction between Prince William and Harry was also a fiasco during the sit-down with the Queen.
It has been revealed: “The Queen had suggested the family should gather for lunch before their big pow-wow in the library that afternoon, but he refused his grandmother’s invitation. He would obviously turn up at 2 p.m. for the meeting, he said, but he only wanted to talk business.”
Royal fans back the Queen’s tough approach to the situation.
One supporter stated: “I think they’ve sealed their own fate. They thought they were clever, underestimated who The Queen is, her intellect, sense of duty, her overwhelming love of country and people. They thought she was just an older woman. They were wrong! Her Majesty has earned the respect of not just her subjects, but of heads of state worldwide. The arrogance they portrayed is so telling of many of their generation. Selfish, self-centered, entitled, and spoilt with an expectation that they be adored because they want it so. We see it every day.”
Another backer explained: “The Queen gave them a year, and she is a woman of her word. We have to trust this choice. I am sure she knew MeMe would mess it up even more, but I’m thinking Queenie was also hoping this year would open just Harry’s eyes about who she really is, and I personally think he is more aware of who he married now than a year ago. Come March, they will be stripped of it all, but he will have a chance to come back tail between his legs.”
Harry and Meghan might now find some consolation in the millions of their lucrative Netflix deal.
