Meghan Markle is taking the solo show on the road, and this first stop was a smashing success, according to early reviews.
The Duchess of Success made an appearance at the New York Times DealBook summit on Tuesday. Prince Harry‘s wife joined a panel about gender pay disparity called Minding the Gap.
On this occasion, she was interviewed by journalist Andrew Sorkin. Businesswoman Mellody Hobson was also a guest at the New York City event.
For a moment, the former working member of the British royal family looked and sounded like a woman on a mission. Amid reports that Markle is thinking about getting into politics, she appeared confident and fluent when it comes to the issues.
“Often times you walk in here and it’s like you’re bigger than life just walking in….….I mean the whole place lit up. Absolutely.”

Markle seemed to signal the beginning of a new era, seven months after the brutal Oprah Winfrey interview with her husband, where they put the royal family on shaky grounds.
She and her spouse used their grievances to get people’s attention; now, she seems ready to build her own palace and castle on different terms.
Negativity is good to start a conversation. Positivity keeps people coming back for more. For Markle, it appears that the transition has begun.

In this process, Queen Elizabeth and even Prince Harry are afterthoughts; Markle is the main attraction. She is in the role of her life.
It is not yet clear what she is running for, but she is running. Her brand may be slightly toxic in England, but she has a lot of room to grow in America.
Markle is a doting mother and loving wife, and she is fighting for the little guys. America loves a comeback story, and she has a compelling one to tell.
While critics may dispute her sincerity, they can hardly deny that the product is good, almost irresistible. How can one efficiently rebuke paid leave when a wealthy royal presents it this way.
I love how Meghan doesn’t claim those descendants of cousins.

She explained: “I don’t see this as a political issue, frankly. There is a precedent among my husband’s family, the royal family, of not having any involvement in politics. From my standpoint, this is a humanitarian issue.”
Markle continued: “My husband has always said with great privilege comes great responsibility, and before I had any kind of privilege, I always stood up for what was right. I’ve been gone from the US for a really long time; I was in Canada for seven years, then I went to the UK. I’ve come back, and I’m a mother of two.”
She also added: “The US is one of only six countries in the world that didn’t offer any kind of paid national level. I said, ‘let me put pen to paper and make some calls.’ To me, it seems like a really logical and obvious thing to do.”
Things could change tomorrow, but today Markle made an impression with this interview.
The US is the only industrialized country that doesn’t have #PaidLeave & it’s popular with 84% of Americans. This “isn’t about Right or Left,it’s about right or wrong. This is about putting families above politics.” #PaidLeaveForAll is a humanitarian issue.pic.twitter.com/OhJrfeKw3R
