Rapper T.I. faced serious backlash after a recent podcast interview, during which he talked about his parenting style.
The 39-year-old musician shocked the public by stating that he accompanies his 18-year-old daughter, Deyjah Harris, to her gynecologist at least once a year to know for sure that his progeny’s hymen was still intact.
It was not enough for the famous rapper to have the talk about the birds and the bees with his oldest daughter, as he felt it was necessary for him to go to her doctor’s appointments and have her so-called virginity checked.
Even though T.I. is aware that the hymen can be broken not only by sexual activities but by various sports such as horse riding, riding a bike, or gymnastics, he insisted on reviewing his daughter’s test results and proudly stated that she was still a virgin at 18.
The Georgia entertainer explained: “I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact. Not only have we had the conversation [about sex], we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
As a result of the rapper’s remarks, a lot of people expressed their discontent with his parenting style on social media.
And it seems that Deyjah also shares the opinion of the public and does not like her father’s scrutiny since she liked a couple of comments on social media that criticized T.I.’s behavior.
Deyjah did not say anything herself, but she liked a post saying that what the famous rapper was doing was disgusting and possessive.
A second remark that was approved by Deyjah criticized the musician’s insisting on reviewing her test results as if they were about him, and the third comment that was liked by the teenager said that T.I. was “beyond possessive.”
Tiny Harris‘s husband admitted that he treats his son, King Harris, 15, differently when it comes to sexual activity.
He said on the Ladies Like Us podcast with hosts Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Mohan: “I definitely feel different about a boy than about a girl. That’s just the God’s honest truth. I don’t think there’s any father out there who’ll tell you any different.”
Mandi and Mohan have since apologized for not taking T.I. on when he made the controversial statements. Instead, the two ladies laughed awkwardly as the T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle star admitted to invading his young daughter’s privacy.
The topic has sparked a lot of reactions on social media. A supportive follower told Deyjah: “You’re amazing, beautiful and intelligent. It was none of our business and I’m sorry you have to now endure harassment and embarrassment if you do feel that way. It’s your body and you can do as you please with it without the world knowing, pressuring or praising you for your decisions.”
One critic of the Atlanta hip-hop star stated: “Makes me sick to my stomach to know that you are so violating and abusive to your daughter’s privacy. What kind of dad goes to the gynecologist every year to get her daughter’s hymen checked????.”
A T.I. backer replied: “Everyone got an opinion about some sh8t that don’t concern none of you ??? fuc%ing clowns.?”
A commenter, who tried to find a middle ground, shared: “I love that you are still a virgin! ? That’s beautiful. But T.I. Needs help! That’s something for your mom to accompany you with!”
T.I. has remained silent throughout the controversy, for now.
