Barack Obama has finally given his loyal and trusted former vice president something to laugh about.
Joe Biden still maintained his sense of humor during the most painful moment in his career — the soft coup orchestrated by members of his party last month.
The president was forced to resign from reelection after a less-than-stellar debate performance against Donald Trump caused a wave of bad poll numbers.
However, Biden has revealed that Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats made it clear to him that he had no option but to step down to save the party and, presumably, democracy.
Among these other Democrats is Biden’s former boss and “brother,” Obama. Political insiders say that Obama was instrumental in outing the president from the reelection campaign.
That is why Biden giggled upon hearing a wicked Obama-related joke recently. A piece published on Axios revealed that one of President Obama’s former top White House officials ran into Mike Barnicle before a conference.
Barnicle, a true believer in Biden, often appears on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where he passionately defends the 81-year-old.
The Obama friend told Barnicle: “Isn’t it great that f–king guy finally figured out he had to quit?” According to the publication, here is the rest of the awkward exchange: “Barnicle was tired and wasn’t having it. “What guy?!” he replied. “Joe Biden!” the West Wing alumnus replied.
“You know something? F–k you!” Barnicle replied. “And f–k all your friends with their anonymous quotes in the papers. Put your name on it next time!” And kept walking.” A good joke or juicy gossip always travels far.
The wickedly good conversation reached Biden’s ears, and he could not help but laugh. A source familiar with Biden’s reaction to the story told the media outlet: “He might still be laughing.”
Since stepping down from the ticket, Biden, Barack and Michelle Obama have gone to extremes to avoid being in the same city.
Barack Obama has attempted to reach out to his friend with his roaring speech at the convention, but thus far, Biden has yet to respond to Obama.
The Cold War is an ongoing one. It is unclear if a Kamala Harris victory in November will be enough to fix the rift between the two sides.
Mr. Biden does not like the process that took him out of the political arena. Pelosi and Obama believe that it was necessary.
