Martha Stewart’s Iceberg In Cocktail Scandal Has A Brutal Update

Martha Stewart Climate Change Iceland

Martha Stewart‘s actions sure have consequences. There has been a visceral reaction to Stewart’s decision to break a small piece of iceberg and put it in her fancy drink, forcing the company to take brutal action.

This week, the TV and lifestyle mogul caused a major uproar on social media by sharing multiple photos from her cruise.

In her Instagram post, Martha Stewart revealed that she was enjoying the Swan Hellenic cruise traveling from Iceland to Greenland.

The businesswoman and writer posted multiple pictures from the lavish voyage. In one image, Stewart, dressed for the freezing weather, can be seen holding an iced coffee.

In other pictures, the mogul and other travelers enjoy the wild and beautiful scenery while sipping champagne. Stewart also posted a picture of a small iceberg that was put on display inside the ship.

She used the caption to explain that a piece of the iceberg was used for their cocktails.

The personality wrote: “End of the first zodiac cruise from @swanhelleniccruises into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of Greenland. We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight.”

There was a massive eruption of anger on social media from climate change activists who were quick to say that the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is contributing to the destruction of the planet and the rapid melting of icebergs.

The comments were harsh and brutal, but Stewart declined to address them. Instead, she decided to close the comments.

However, the cruise line has been forced to give a major update on the situation. The lifestyle magnate’s controversial move has forced Swan Hellenic to close the “ice experience” from the cruise.

In a statement that was released to the media, a representative explained that the company never authorized “any invasive acquisition that does not fully respect the polar environment in accordance with our own strict rules and rigorous industry standards.”

The statement went on to say: “Regardless, we understand this can appear insensitive to the climate crisis and therefore, we will be suspending this practice with immediate effect on all ships in the Swan Hellenic fleet.”

However, most experts believe that Stewart’s action was senseless but not harmful. Ian Allison, a professor at the University of Tasmania, told the Huffington Post: “The impact would actually be zero (or at least no greater than the beating of butterflies’ wings in the Amazon).”

The scientist added: “Popping a bit of ice into a drink is no worse than taking a glass of water from a river.”

Stewart is not afraid of a little controversy.
